The financial commitment requires not just a retainer (down payment), but also a commitment to pay our invoices in a timely manner once the retainer
had been depleted. It has been our experience that most divorces cost in the range of $1500 to $3000.
If we have a contested matter, the fee can be in the $3000 to $7500 range, or higher. If we are engaged in a very heavily contested matter
involving a full-blown custody battle or a total war on every issue, the fees may be considerably higher. The amount of your legal fees is difficult to assess until we determine the issues in your case,
whether there is a chance of a fair settlement and the attitude of your husband or his attorney. Of course, we will ask the court to have your husband reimburse you for your legal fees in appropriate cases,
but often the court will make each party pay her and his own legal fees.
Our system of representing our clients is not inflexible; however, it does require that you write a marital history telling us about your marriage,
your family and the problems you have encountered. We also ask that you prepare a budget so we can determine your financial needs. This assists us in determining your right to support..
